The Enterovirus IgG, Serum test detects IgG antibodies against enteroviruses in the blood. IgG antibodies indicate past exposure or infection and the development of long-term immunity, rather than an active infection. Helps determine if a patient has been previously exposed to enteroviruses, which include polioviruses, coxsackieviruses, echoviruses, and other related viruses. Useful in the diagnosis of past infections, evaluation of immune status, or epidemiological studies
دواعي الإستعمال
Besides being the most common cause of aseptic meningitis, EVs cause a wide range of common and uncommon clinical presentations and are among the leading causes of acute febrile illness in infants and young children. Enteroviral infections can mimic symptoms caused by other common bacteria and viral infections, leading to treatment with therapies aimed for other infections. The detection of EV-specific IgG antibodies in the absence of IgM antibodies is suggestive of past infection and immunity.
