Measures the concentration of Gastrin-17 in serum, a hormone produced by G-cells in the stomach. It helps assess gastric acid secretion and G-cell function. Abnormal levels may indicate conditions such as atrophic gastritis, Zollinger–Ellison syndrome, or Helicobacter pylori infection, and can be used to evaluate acid-related disorders or monitor therapy affecting gastric function.
دواعي الإستعمال
Increased gastrin levels are associated with Helicobacter pylori infection, infection induced duodenal ulcer, atrophic gastritis, which predisposes to gastric cancer, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, pernicious anaemia and colorectal carcinomas.
