الوصف
Eosinophilia may be found in allergic disorders, skin diseases, malignant neoplasm, myeloproliferative disorders, parasitic infestation, and some infections (e.g. scarlet fever, chorea). Reduction of eosinophils occurs as a response to stress and in Cushing’s syndrome. Lowest counts are in the morning, highest at night.
دواعي الإستعمال
There is no percentage or eosinophil count diagnostic of asthma, but levels >80% (related to proportion of neutrophils) are very suggestive of asthma or of chronic bronchitis with wheezing. Gram-stained smears of microbiology specimens will not stain eosinophils, and this cell type cannot be identified on such preparations.
