C2 is a component of the classical pathway of the complement system. C2 is activated by C1s, which cleaves it into C2a, and C2b. C2a binds C4b to form the enzyme site of C3 and C5 convertase. See Also C1q, First Component of Complement, Serum
دواعي الإستعمال
Increased levels of C2 are seen in patients with hereditary congenital C1 deficiency and in inflammatory conditions as an acute phase reactant. Decreased levels are seen in congenital C2 deficiency, angioedema, immune complex disease, autoimmune disorders, bacteraemia, viraemia, severe trauma, burns, and malnutrition.
