Glutathione Peroxidase

Measures glutathione peroxidase enzyme activity, an antioxidant system that depends on selenium and protects cells from oxidative injury.

Supports assessment of antioxidant/ selenium status or rare red-cell enzyme disorders; results are nonspecific and should be correlated clinically.

Use the specific anticoagulated whole-blood specimen required by the performing laboratory; avoid hemolysis and recent transfusion where possible. Maintain required temperature during transport.
