الوصف

Lipase is an enzyme necessary for the absorption and digestion of nutrients in the intestines. This digestive enzyme which is defined as triglyceride hydrolase catalyses the cleavage of triglycerides to diglycerides with subsequent formation of monoglycerides and fatty acids which are more easily absorbed in the intestines. Lipase is primarily produced in the pancreas but is also produced in the mouth and stomach. Most people produce sufficient amounts of pancreatic lipase.

دواعي الإستعمال

Increased serum lipase activity is seen in pancreatitis, pancreatic cyst, gallstone colic, perforated hollow viscus, infracted bowel, and peritonitis. In pancreatitis, lipase and amylase complement each other. However, lipase has higher sensitivity and specificity than amylase in the diagnosis of pancreatitis.
