الوصف
Different alkaline phosphatase isoenzymes (bone, liver, kidney, intestinal and placental) have different electrophoretic mobility, due to differences in glycosylation, and to their resistance to heat inactivation. There are also differences in their catalytic activity depending on the respective genetic origin. See Also Alkaline Phosphatase, Serum
دواعي الإستعمال
This test allows the identification of organ-specific alkaline phosphatase, which can be associated with specific diseases. Fast liver fraction or immobile fraction, is associated with obstructive liver disease. Liver fraction with anodic mobility is associated with hepatoma. Elevation and detection of both liver and bone fractions is associated with cancer and metastasis. Increased bone fraction is found in Paget's disease, osteitis fibrosa (bone disease of hyperparathyroidism) and osteomalacia. A slight increase in the intestinal isoenzyme is usually found in apparently healthy fasted individuals of blood groups 0 or B. It can also be seen in cirrhosis and end-stage chronic liver disease.
