الوصف
Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is an enzyme which catalyses the hydrolysis of phosphate monoesters. There are four genes that encode ALP, liver-bone-kidney which are different forms of the same gene product, intestinal, placental and germ cell. Liver, bone, and kidney alkaline phosphatases constitute the majority of serum ALP activity and differ from one another only in their post-translational glycosylation.
دواعي الإستعمال
The measurment of ALP activity is useful in the diagnosis and monitoring of hepatobiliary disease (obstructive jaundice, cirrhosis, primary liver tumours and metastasis), and skeletal disease (primary bone disease, Paget's disease, rickets, osteomalacia, osteogenesis imperfecta and primary bone tumours). ALP activity is decreased in familial hypophosphatasia, hypothyroidism, achondrodysplasia, pituitary dwarfism, radiation sickness, and malnutrition.
