Amphiphysin Antibodies, Serum

Amphiphysin antibodies recognise a protein on the synaptic terminal that binds the vesicle core protein adapter AP2 and dynamin. The binding of this autoantibody to amphiphysin prevents the release of neurotransmitters. Stiff Man Syndrome (characterised by severe spasm of the skeletal muscles), small cell lung cancer (SCLC), breast cancer, and thymoma are associated with anti-amphiphysin antibodies.

دواعي الإستعمال

Anti-amphiphysin autoantibodies are found in female patients with Stiff Man Syndrome, a paraneoplastic syndrome, as well as in patients with breast cancer and patients with small cell lung cancer with paraneoplastic cephalomyelitis and sensory neuropathy.
