الوصف

Ceruloplasmin, an α-2 glycoprotein, is an important protein that circulates in plasma as a major serum copper transporter protein and contains greater than 95% of the copper found in serum. Copper is incorporated into newly synthesised ceruloplasmin within the hepatocytes. Other functions of ceruloplasmin are iron metabolism, antioxidant defence, tissue angiogenesis, and coagulation.

دواعي الإستعمال

Serum ceruloplasmin activity increases during inflammation, infection and injury, suggesting that serum ceruloplasmin acts possibly as an antioxidant and as an acute phase protein. Ceruloplasmin level measurement is useful in the diagnosis of chronic liver disease and Wilson’s disease.
