الوصف

Cortisol is a corticosteroid hormone produced by the adrenal cortex, which is stimulated by adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) which is secreted from the pituitary gland. Cortisol is effective in anti-inflammatory activity and blood pressure maintenance. In addition, it is involved in gluconeogenesis, calcium absorption and the secretion of gastric acid and pepsin. Cortisol level follows diurnal variations, reaching the highest level in the early morning, and the lowest level in the evening.See Also ACTH
