الوصف
The urinary output of creatinine in health varies little with the amount or nature of the diet and is independent of diuresis. See Also Creatinine, Serum and Creatinine Clearance, Serum & Urine
دواعي الإستعمال
Urinary excretion of creatinine is low in muscle disease, especially in muscular dystrophy. The test is also useful for following up the effect of a course of treatment in cases of acute glomerulonephritis, to identify glomerular dysfunction, and to assess overall renal function. Trauma or febrile states have been associated with significant increases in the excretion of creatinine. Hepatic disease is also associated with a 50% decrease in creatinine excretion per kilogram of total body weight, regardless of the presence or absence of ascites. In tests performed on 24 hour urine samples, creatinine measurement provides a rough estimate of the completeness of collection of urine specimens.
