Cyclosporine, Blood

الوصف

Cyclosporine is a metabolite obtained from two species of fungi isolated from soil. It is a cyclic peptide consisting of 11 amino acid residues. Cyclosporine selectively blocks the transcriptional activation of the genes that encode cytokines (IL-2, IL-4, IL-3, interferon-ɣ, granulocyte macrophage colony stimulating factor), and the α-chain Cyclosporine, Blood of the IL-2 receptor early in the T cell response thus, inhibiting T cell proliferation. Cyclosporine has revolutionised the field of transplantation medicine increasing the 1-year survival rates of unmatched kidney recipients from 50 to 80%. However, cyclosporine can cause dose dependent nephrotoxicity.

دواعي الإستعمال

Measurement of cyclosporine level is used to monitor the dose of the drug in order to avoid its toxic effect and maintain the desired therapeutic effect. C”0” or trough level represents the concentration of blood cyclosporine just before the next dose. C”2” represents the concentration of blood cyclosporine two hours after dose.
