الوصف
Factor IX is a serine protease with an absolute requirement for factor VIII as cofactor. Upon activation, and in the presence of calcium ions and phospholipid surfaces, factor VIII and factor IX form an active complex, the tenase complex, which activates factor X. Subsequent stages of the cascade then proceed, culminating in the deposition of fibrin, the structural polymer of the blood clot.
دواعي الإستعمال
A deficiency or dysfunction or factor IX compromises the activation of factor X, thus, compromising the coagulation cascade resulting in inefficient or non-existent fibrin deposition and bleeding tendency (Haemophilia B).
