Fluoride can form hydrofiuoric acid in the stomach leading to GI irritation or corrosion. It inhibits acetylcholinesterase, which may be partly responsible for hyper-salivation, vomiting, and diarrhoea (cholinergic signs). Seizures may result from both hypo-magnesaemia and hypocalcaemia due to poisoning. Severe fluoride toxicity will result in multi-organ failure.

Fluoride is found in many common household products. Fluoride _poisoning most commonly occurs following ingestion of fluoride _containing products.
