الوصف

Gastrin is a hormone secreted by the endocrine gastrin (G) cells found in the glands of the pyloric antral part of the stomach. Gastrin is the major output of the antral endocrine cell system and is a major stimulant of acid secretion. It regulates the proliferation and function of gastric epithelial cells (enterochromaffin-like, parietal and peptic), thereby, influencing their secretory capacities. Moreover, gastrin is a growth factor for the non-antral gastric mucosa.

دواعي الإستعمال

Increased gastrin levels are associated with Helicobacter pylori infection, infection induced duodenal ulcer, atrophic gastritis, which predisposes to gastric cancer, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, pernicious anaemia and colorectal carcinomas.
