HBsAb is a protective antibody that neutralises the virus. During convalescence, HBsAg and HBeAg are cleared, and HBsAb and HBeAb develop. The presence of HBsAb following acute infection indicates recovery and immunity from re-infection. HBsAb is also detected among persons who have received hepatitis B vaccine.

Avoid grossly haemolysed samples.

Non-Reactive: < 10 mIU/mL Reactive: ≥ 10 mIU/mL
