Human Leukocyte Antigens (HLA) B27 Molecular Typing, By PCR, Blood

الوصف

HLA-B27 is an allele of the HLA class I molecules that encompasses 25 glycoproteins or subtypes (HLA-B*27;01 to HLA-B*27:145). The function of HLA class I molecules is to present endogenously processed peptides to CD8+ T cells of the immune system. HLA-B27 is associated with immunologically
induced spondyloarthropathies. Theories explaining this association include: genetic linkage to disease associated gene(s), presentation of arthritogenic peptides, presentation of peptides to CD4+ T cells, interaction of HLA-B27 with a bacterial super-antigen that causes non-specific stimulation of T cells and antigenic mimicry of bacterial antigens.

دواعي الإستعمال

HLA-B27 is associated with ankylosing spondylitis, chronic or relapsing arthritis, uveitis, aortitis, sacroiliitis, and ReA (bacterially triggered spondyloarthropathies (SpA)) such as Salmonella, Campylobacter, Shigella, and Chlamydia-induced reactive arthritis. HLA-B27 is present in 8% of healthy caucasians, of whom about 90% will never develop SpA.
