الوصف

The IgG Subclasses, Serum test measures the levels of the four IgG subclasses (IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, IgG4) in the blood. IgG is the most abundant antibody in circulation, and its subclasses play distinct roles in the immune response.
IgG Subclasses are the four types of Immunoglobulin G antibodies, each with slightly different structures and functions in the immune system:
IgG1: Most abundant subclass (≈60–70% of total IgG). Primarily responds to protein antigens such as toxins and viral proteins. Plays a major role in opsonization and complement activation.
IgG2: About 20–30% of total IgG. Mainly responds to polysaccharide antigens (e.g., bacterial capsules). Important in defense against encapsulated bacteria like Streptococcus pneumoniae.
IgG3: About 5–10% of total IgG. Very effective at activating complement. Responds to protein antigens and helps in antiviral and antibacterial defense.
IgG4: About 1–4% of total IgG. Involved in long-term exposure to antigens and allergic responses.Often associated with tolerance and chronic antigen exposure.
Each subclass deficiency or imbalance can lead to specific susceptibility to infections or immune disorders.

دواعي الإستعمال

Helps evaluate suspected immunodeficiency, recurrent infections, or allergic and autoimmune conditions. Abnormal subclass levels can indicate selective IgG subclass deficiency, chronic infections, autoimmune disorders, and provides insight into immune system function and antibody response.
