Mycobacterium spp DNA, PCR

الوصف

Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC) is composed of the closely related species M. tuberculosis, M. bovis, M. africanum and M. microti. Members of the MTBC differ in their host range and pathogenicity as M. bovis can cause disease in a wide range of domestic or wild animals like cattle or goats as well as in humans, whereas M. tuberculosis is the major cause of human tuberculosis. Key factors in the control of tuberculosis are rapid detection, adequate therapy, and contact tracing to arrest further transmission. DNA technology and molecular biology have led to methods for rapid detection of mycobacterial DNA or RNA in clinical specimens by in vitro nucleic acid amplification.

دواعي الإستعمال

Detection of Mycobacteria by PCR offers several advantages over traditional methods of isolation and identification such as Zeil-Nelsen stain and culture. PCR is rapid, sensitive, and provides accurate species differentiation of clinical isolates necessary for determining the course of treatment, epidemiological, and public health purposes.
