هرمون الغدة جار الدرقية pth البلازما

الوصف

Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is a single-chain polypeptide hormone secreted by the parathyroid glands. Its main function is the maintenance of optimal calcium ion concentrations. Its secretion is controlled by the level of calcium ions, which exerts a negative feedback effect on PTH. PTH acts directly on bone and kidneys to increase the concentration of calcium in the blood and acts on the intestine by increasing the production and metabolism of vitamin D to enhance the absorption of calcium. See Also Calcium, Phosphorous (inorganic), Serum, Vitamin D, 1,25-hydroxy,Serum.

دواعي الإستعمال

Elevated PTH levels are found in primary hyper-parathyroidisim or ectopic PTH production (pseudohyperparathyroidism) which is associated with hyper-calcaemia. Elevated PTH levels are also found in secondary hyperparathyroidism, which is usually associated with renal failure, due to low calcium levels. Low PTH levels with hypo-calcaemia usually result from post-surgical or idiopathic hypo-parathyroidism whereas, low PTH levels with hyper-calcaemia could be associated with malignancies.
