الوصف
Toxoplasma gondii infection is one of the most common infections in humans. It is mainly acquired through ingestion of undercooked or raw meat containing viable toxoplasma cysts or by ingestion of food contaminated with oocysts shed by infected cats. Following multiplication in intestinal epithelial cells, the parasites spread via blood and invade and destroy host cells of virtually every organ.
دواعي الإستعمال
Infection with Toxoplasma gondii is usually sub-clinical. However, if contracted early during pregnancy it can cause abortion. Reactivation of latent infection in immuno-compromised patients can cause encephalitis, a life-threatening condition. Cerebral toxoplasmosis is one of the most common opportunistic neurological infections in AIDS patients. Currently, AIDS-related focal brain disorders accounts for a considerable proportion of mortality and morbidity.
