Description
Paracetamol is a widely used analgesic and antipyretic.
Indications
Paracetamol overdose could result in liver failure. The best indication of acetaminophen toxicity is measurement of the drug half-life by analysing a blood level taken 6 hours post ingestion, then a second level 3-4 hours later. Half-lives exceeding 4 hours are consistent with hepatic necrosis. Hepatic and renal toxicity may occur at therapeutic doses in alcoholics.
