Description
Androstenedione is a steroid hormone precursor that is produced in the adrenal glands and gonads. In women, dihydrotestosterone (DHT) originates via the peripheral conversion of androstenedione. 3-α-Androstanediol Glucuronide , DHEA, DHEA-S and 17-Hydroxy Pregnenolone
Indications
Increased Androstenedione levels are found in polycystic ovarian disease, adrenal hyperplasia, adrenal tumours, and hirsutism.

Special Precautions
Diurnal variation in Androstenedione levels has been observed. Avoid grossly haemolysed or grossly lipemic samples.
