Description
Corrected calcium is a a nomogram for calculating ionised calcium from total calcium and albumin. It is used to correct for the change in total calcium due to the change in albumin-bound calcium. However, this estimation of ionised calcium is based on several assumptions and therefore, is only a first approximation, since other variables, including pH, temperature, albumin to globulin ratio, magnesium, and citrate are known to influence the ionisation of calcium.
