Description
Indications
Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibodies (ANCA) are a serological marker useful in the diagnosis of vasculitis, glomerulonephritis and Wegener’s granulomatosis. ANCA exhibits two patterns c-ANCA and p-ANCA. c-ANCA (PR3-ANCA) has a high (>90%) positive predictive value for Wegener’s granulomatosis. p-ANCA (MPO-ANCA) shows high (>80%) association with pauciimmune glomerulonephritis. The combination of these two tests with the anti-GBM antibody test is very useful for patients with Pulmonary renal syndromes or rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis.
