Description
Used to evaluate intrinsic coagulation system and monitor heparin therapy. It is also used to detect classical haemophilia-A, dysfibrinogenaemia, vitamin K deficiency and Christmas disease.
Indications
PTT is prolonged with DIC, lupus anticoagulant, liver failure, vitamin K deficiency, congenital deficiency of Fitzgerald factor and congenital deficiencies of factors II, V, VIII, IX, X, XI, and XII.

Special Precautions
Separate plasma from cells as soon as possible and freeze for transport. Avoid clotted, haemolysed or serum samples.
