Description
Human parvovirus (PV) infections occur frequently, as approximately 60% of adults are seropositive. Severe anaemia is often the major complication due to the organism’s predilection for red cell precursors in the bone marrow. Acute PV infection in a pregnant woman results in adverse foetal outcome ; abortion (stillbirth due to hydrops foetalis).
