The presence of IgM antibodies indicates current or acute infection. However, in toxoplasmosis, IgM antibodies may persist indefinitely in some individuals.

1 ml Serum 1 ml Li, Na-Heparin or K2, K3-EDTA Plasma Stability: 3 Days at 15-30 °C 14 Days at 2-8 °C > 14 Days at -20 °C

Avoid grossly haemolysed samples.

Negative: < 0.8 Index Equivocal: 0.8 - < 1.0 Index Positive: ≥ 1.0 Index
