Coomb’s Test, Direct

Haemagglutination test in which antiglobulin, or anti-human globulin rabbit immune serum, is added to detect incomplete (non-agglutinating, univalent, blocking) antibodies coating erythrocytes. The direct test is applied to red cells which may have been coated with antibody in vivo.

دواعي الإستعمال

Useful in the diagnosis of haemolytic disease of new-born, autoimmune haemolytic anaemia, and transfusion reactions. In addition, this test can be positive in association with certain drugs. The presence of potent cold autoagglutinins may interfere with test interpretation.
