فيروس المضخم للخلايا الأجسام المضادة لـ CMV مصل البلازما

الوصف

Human Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is the vernacular name of human herpesvirus 5, a highly host-specific virus of the Herpesviridae family. CMV, like all herpesviruses, undergoes latency and reactivation in the host and has been shown to infect a broad spectrum of cells in vivo. This virus can be a lifelong silent companion or a potential killer in organ transplant recipients, patients with AIDS, and cancer patients. The virus is kept at bay and its replication controlled by both the cellular and humoral arms of the immune system. Thus, Immuno-compromised individuals can experience cycles of viral reactivation. CMV is an important infectious agent responsible for mental retardation, intellectual impairment, and deafness in new-borns (congenital infection).
