الوصف
Eosinophil cationic protein (ECP), a weak ribonuclease and a potent neurotoxin, is one of four principal proteins found in eosinophil granules. Asthma is characterised by reversible airway obstruction, bronchial hyper-responsiveness, and airway inflammation. Eosinophilc inflammation of the lung is a factor underlying these abnormalities. Serum levels of ECP reflect the degree of activation of the circulating eosinophil pool in the body.
دواعي الإستعمال
Serum ECP levels might refilect ongoing eosinophilic airway inflammation. However, serum ECP levels are not elevated in some patients with asthma, even when they are symptomatic.
