الوصف
The BRCA1 and BRCA2 proteins are involved in the regulation of gene transcription and DNA. BRCA1 is a tumour-suppressor gene postulated to be important in regulating the growth of breast epithelial cells. Mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2, seem to be responsible for the majority of breast cancers associated with hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC). Ovarian cancer is _reported to be more common in BRCA1 mutation carriers than in BRCA2 mutation carriers. Individuals with BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations have a lifetime risk of 90% to developing cancer.
