Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) is a test based on the analysis of fetal cell-free DNA (cfDNA) circulating within the mothers blood stream. The test allows for the identification of chromosomal abnormalities and microdeletions. More advanced tests even allow the analysis of specifc genetic mutations. The advantage of NIPT testing as opposed to more tradiotional methods is the positive predictive value (PPV), which can reach as high as 99% for certain disorders.
دواعي الإستعمال
يمكن إجراء اختبار NIPT ابتداءً من الأسبوع التاسع إلى العاشر من الحمل. وعلى الرغم من دقته العالية، إلا أنه يُصنَّف كفحص تحرٍّ (Screening Test)، ولذلك يجب تأكيد أي نتيجة إيجابية عن طريق بزل السائل الأمنيوسي (Amniocentesis) قبل اتخاذ قرارات طبية حاسمة.
