Description
Flow cytometric analysis of acute leukemia is interpretive, combining the patterns and intensity of antigen expression to reach a definitive diagnosis. In addition to leukemia diagnosis, Flow cytometry has assumed an important role in the diagnosis of lymphoma; the ability to identify specific lymphomas depends on recognition of a patterns of antigen expression.
Indications
Flow cytometry is an important tool in the differential diagnosis of leukemias and lymphomas. Depending on the initial diagnosis, a panel of anti cell surface marker antibodies is used to identify the lineage, maturation stage and percentage of peripheral blood and /or bone marrow cell populations.
