Description
Absolute Neutrophil Count (ANC) is a measure of the number of neutrophil granulocytes (a type of white blood cell) present in the blood. Neutrophils are vital for fighting bacterial infections. Clinical Importance:
Low ANC (Neutropenia): Increased risk of infection. Common in chemotherapy, bone marrow disorders, autoimmune diseases.
High ANC: Often due to infection, inflammation, trauma, stress, or myeloproliferative disorders. RR as in the absolute neutrophil count / Age & sex
Indications
This test is used to determine the qualitative and quantitative variations in white cell numbers and morphology.
